Sepaton Supports Symantec NetBackup 7
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, May 6th, 2011
With auto image replication technology
SEPATON, Inc. will extend its V6 data protection platform by enhancing its OpenStorage solutions for the version of NetBackup 7 by supporting auto image replication.
The Symantec OpenStorage technology allows SEPATON to deliver an integrated solution with NetBackup. This integration enables enterprise IT organizations to eliminate administrative and operational complexity as data protection is consolidated into a single, integrated process across the entire infrastructure. This integration will be demonstrated at Symantec Vision 2011 on May 2 - 5, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
NetBackup's new auto image replication feature enhances replication between deduplication storage devices to make disaster recovery at alternate sites faster. The new feature notifies an alternate site of a replicated image and quickly imports data about the image, eliminating the time, scripts, and IT infrastructure required to find and recover data during a disaster. This feature is one of several available to Symantec approved OpenStorage partners.
"NetBackup's latest features and their availability to OpenStorage partners make disk-based backup and disaster recovery easier and faster for large, data-intensive enterprises," said Lauren Whitehouse, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "Through its early commitment to support Symantec OpenStorage technology and NetBackup, SEPATON continues to re-shape and focus its business strategy around its core strengths - providing a world class scalable data protection platform that uniquely meets the needs of large enterprises."
"Faced with unabated data growth, our enterprise customers are always looking to take advantage of the latest innovations with a choice of protocols to achieve cost-effective and 100% reliable data protection across their enterprise," said Joe Forgione, senior vice president, product operations, SEPATON, Inc. "Our planned OpenStorage enabled support of NetBackup auto image replication is just the latest in a series of data protection enhancements made possible by our new SEPATON V6 data protection platform. SEPATON's approach to consolidate data protection into a single, scalable platform remains unique in the industry. With support for NetBackup auto image replication, SEPATON customers will have even more choice of how they deploy our enterprise-class data protection."
