557 Million HDDs Shipped in 2009, Modest +3% Compared to 2008

By the end of 2009, a new record of 557.15 million hard disk drives shipped for the year, a modest 3.1% gain – but much better than the -10% contraction expected when 2009 began, according to TrendFocus, one of the most reliable analyst company tracking the HDD market. 665.11 million HDDs are forecasted to ship in 2010, a 19% rise over 2009.
