Map 2022 for Object Storage

Coldago Research unveiled the Map 2022 for Object Storage ($11,990). This study, started several years ago and published every year, lists and ranks this year 15 vendors playing in the object storage market segment during the last 12 months.

Companies listed by alpha order are Cloudian, Cohesity, Commvault, DataCore, Dell, Hitachi Vantara, IBM, MinIO, NetApp, Pure Storage, Quantum, Scality, Spectra Logic, VAST Data and WEKA.

As for all company’s reports, the study has selected vendors with a minimum of one product in the domain but the analysis considered multiple dimensions: company profile, business and strategy, products, solutions and technologies.

The analyst firm has collected lots of data during this period from end-users, partners and vendors meetings, watching companies and products announcements, cases studies, integrations or partnerships. All these information are then digested, segmented, grouped and normalized to make comparison and ranking easier.

Coldago Maps are not a comparison of product features even if they count for a significant part of the analysis and ranking. This is critical to understand the philosophy of these reports. For instance, an established vendor could appear in a position that could be a surprise for some readers but the fact this vendor exists for a long time doesn’t imply it has to belong to the leader portion. This vendor could have a very limited visibility and doesn’t show progress on various dimensions we track. On the other hand, the report considers seriously changes, positive and negative, and readers can imagine their impact on the ranking.
