ThinkParQ and Huawei Partner to Deliver Converged HPC/AI Storage Solution
BeeGFS native integration with Huawei OceanDisk 1610 brings high-performance parallel file system storage to HPC and AI workloads
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 16, 2026 at 2:01 pmThinkParQ, the company behind the parallel file system BeeGFS, and Huawei announced a strategic cooperation combining BeeGFS with Huawei’s OceanDisk 1610 smart disk enclosure to deliver a converged HPC/AI storage solution.
The partnership enables BeeGFS to run natively on the OceanDisk 1610, creating a scale-out storage platform built for the throughput and concurrency demands of HPC and AI workloads.
The result is a storage platform that’s fast to deploy and simple to run, suited to scientific computing, engineering simulation, life sciences, and AI training. ThinkParQ and Huawei continue building on the partnership, extending the integration to more of BeeGFS’s ecosystem partners as adoption grows.
“We’ve had a long relationship with Huawei, and we’re excited about what this partnership will deliver for customers in both China and Germany,” said Frank Herold, CEO, ThinkParQ. “We’ve recently expanded our operations in China, where we now have a local sales and support team for BeeGFS.”
“The technological synergy between ThinkParQ and Huawei delivers great value to our customers. By running BeeGFS natively on OceanDisk, this joint solution drastically simplifies deployment, minimizes infrastructure footprint and provides uncompromised performance,” said Anton Gohlke, key account Mmanager, Huawei
The joint appliance will be showcased at Huawei Connect in Shanghai.

This is clearly positive news for both companies. ThinkParQ needs greater market visibility, as its recognition remains concentrated among a relatively limited customer base, primarily research centers, universities and other HPC environments. Huawei, meanwhile, needs to continue building an active ecosystem of strategic software partners in the HPC and AI markets, complementing its own flagship HPC/AI solutions.
The OceanDisk strategy is clear: Huawei wants to strengthen its position by combining its storage technology with established and specialized software platforms. This collaboration with ThinkParQ fits perfectly into that direction, and we should expect to see more partnerships of this kind in the future.
