  • New 8-year warranty DS8882F rack-mounted model for IBM Z, IBM LinuxONE, and distributed environments
  • Safeguarded Copy for logical protection
  • Data encryption support for transparent cloud tiering
  • Transparent cloud tiering support for Global Mirror and Metro Global Mirror
  • Thin provisioning enhancements

Key prerequisites
All announced features and functions that are supported on the IBM DS8000 series require DS8000 LMC 8.8.50.xx.xx (bundle version 88.50.xxx.xx), or later.

Planned availability date:

  • September 7, 2018: All features and functions except Safeguarded Copy
  • September 28, 2018: Safeguarded Copy
