XSky and ProphetStor in Strategic Partnership in Beijing

XSky Beijing Data Technology Corporation Limited and ProphetStor Data Services, Inc signed a strategic partnership agreement in Beijing that enhances XSky’s position in the storage market, while expanding ProphetStor’s reach in China with a joint solutions using DiskProphet to improve the reliability and overall efficiency of the Ceph system.

XSky focus on software-defined infrastructure. It products and solutions are mainly based on Ceph, an open-source software-defined-storage system. With this combined solutions, end user will get a non-lock-in solution and their investments are protected. Based on open-source, XSky adds on enterprise-ready interfaces and 24 by 7 maintenance capability to support generic Ceph. It helps customer reduce TCO and solve their dilemma in managing data growth with minimal budgets.

ProphetStor, in software-defined storage, provides federated storage solutions to enable data centers to provide a more agile, automated, and intelligent storage infrastructure orchestration platform that is applicable to both enterprise and cloud services data centers.

The new partnership is expected to inspire innovation and promote the intelligent disk life prediction solution – DiskProphet with integrated support structure to meet the industry standard of storage solutions.

The two partners are working to continue to grow the enterprise customers to adopt the intelligent data analytics solution that addresses the problem of data loss prevention.

This is an important deal for Ceph that could served as a lesson and model for other adoption of ProphetStor technology in other regions with other partners.

It represents also an interesting Chinese expansion for ProphetStor with DiskProphet illustrating the difficulty to compete and partner with other companies. This is the famous co-optation model as both players are active software-defined storage firms.

XSky is a fast growing player in Ceph ecosystem in China who tries to extend it coverage outside and especially in USA as we met them at VMworld US 2017 last August.

With DiskProphet, ProphetStor uses artificial intelligence to accurately predict disk life and provide advanced, intelligent storage solutions. Beyond this product the company develops Federator, StellarFlash and DR Prophet.

Federator is the core of the ProphetStor strategy, it serves as the central intelligence of the environment. It integrates data, storage, platform and analytics services to support the Smart Data Fabric initiative.

StellarFlash is a storage appliance, available as full flash or hybrid storage exposing a block interface. It exists an other flavor named StellarFlash FS that offers file sharing protocols such NFS and SMB plus a dedicated software agent operating a SAN file system or SAN file sharing system.

Last product is DR Prophet related to disaster recovery. It offers smart analytics for disk farms already deployed at Cisco MetaCloud or used by Toshiba in South East Asia and Foxconn.
