WV Media Group Again Selects NVerzion Acquisition/Transmission/Near-Line Storage Packages

To share content between four stations

NVerzion, a provider of digital broadcasting and television station automation solutions, announced that West Virginia Media Group, a news source in West Virginia, has again chosen turnkey hardware and software automation solutions from NVerzion to fully automate the acquisition, transmission, near-line storage and sharing of content between their family of stations. Following the successful automation of CBS affiliate WTRF-TV in Wheeling-Steubenville, WV Media has returned to NVerzion to provide a complete package for their NBC affiliate WBOY-TV in Clarksburg-Morgantown, as well as expand their existing NVerzion automation systems at CBS and FOX affiliates WOWK-TV 13 in Charleston-Huntington and WVNS-TV 59 in Beckley-Bluefield.

As a result of the implementation and configuration of NVerzion’s XPansion distributive asset management applications paired with TeraStore near-line digital storage solutions, WV Media can now freely share and distribute common national content between all stations using a real-time FTP process.

We already had NVerzion automation system running at three of our stations, so we knew this last system would complete the total automation standard for WV Media. I had worked with other automation systems during my career, but the NVerzion automation system has been the easiest and quickest installation I have integrated to date,” said Bill Galloway, VP – Engineering for West Virginia Media Holdings. “Now with NVerzion on-line at all of our stations, the XPansion asset management application and the TeraStore digital storage really fits with our technology and asset management plan.”

Among the solutions, WV Media’s suite of applications included NVerzion’s NControl MC standard master control switcher software package, NControl playlist for WebCasting, an NConvert traffic interface and NVezion’s NFire pathfire interface. According to Galloway, a key component to the entire installation was the excellent sales support they received from NVerzion’s Northeast representative, Henry Lassige of AVEC, who not only helped Galloway determine their requirements, but was also onsite for the duration of the installation.

NVerzion is fully committed to the broadcast industry and to providing the high level of service and quality products necessary to help our clients be leaders in their trade,” said Reed Haslam, NVerzion’s Director of Sales. “The value of producing content once, and distributing throughout the group as needed, has proven to be an extremely cost-effective resource for these stations. NVerzion has raised the bar for asset management solutions based around the traditional Automation playout solutions.”

The tools installed at each of the WV Media locations will dub, segment, edit and schedule broadcast material while managing video servers, VTRs, master control switchers, multiplexers, character generators, cart machines, storage systems, logo inserters, still stores, routers and more for a clean and powerful broadcast. Each NVerzion component works well as part of an overall turnkey solution or as a single stand-alone solution.
