Mellanox IB Achieve Certification

For Oracle Real Application Clusters 11g and Enterprise Linux

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that its ConnectX InfiniBand adapters and switch product technology have achieved certification with Oracle Real Application Clusters 11g and Oracle Enterprise Linux, driving I/O consolidation, open source standardization and scalability of Oracle’s clustering technology to new levels.

Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Enterprise Linux over Mellanox InfiniBand solutions utilize the second generation, open source Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) protocol which was developed within OpenFabrics  by Oracle, Mellanox and other community members.

Oracle Enterprise Linux is a key component of the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program, which provides enterprise-class support for Linux. Available as open source, Oracle Enterprise Linux is fully compatible-both source and binary-with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Oracle Enterprise Linux can also be freely distributed, enabling partners to easily create low-cost solutions for their users. The Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program has been adopted by more than 2,000 leading organizations.

"RDS, available as part of the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED), with Mellanox InfiniBand adapters, deliver 50% faster block throughput and half the latency, while consuming half the CPU processing cycles," said Wayne Augsburger, vice president of business development at Mellanox Technologies. "When used with Mellanox InfiniBand adapters, both scalability and price-performance are significantly enhanced."
