This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 6, 2008 at 3:49 pmSans Digital is introducing a straightforward and user friendly direct attached storage – TS2UT. At the same time, the TS2UT is compact and affordable, fulfilling the standards of Sans Digital’s portable consumer products.
As the preceding unit of Sans Digital’s newly developed TowerSTOR series, the TS2UT is a tray-less 2-bay storage tower with RAID capabilities. TS2UT’s innovative tray-less feature is specifically designed for fast installation and access of the hard drives, where each hard drive could be easily installed or removed by opening the front plate handle. A turn-lock located at the front of each front plate handle allows the securing of hard drives without the use of screws or other tools. In addition to easy hard drive access, the TS2UT features four different RAID modes, including FAST (RAID 0), SAFE (RAID 1), JBOD (individual drive access), and BID (spanning). The RAID modes are selectable via an easy access RAID switch located on the front panel. Easily recognizable LEDs advise the user of the interface in use, the current RAID mode, and status of the hard drives.
The TS2UT supports the latest 1TB hard drive with up to 2TB in storage capacity. It supports both USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces in Windows, Linux, and MAC operating environments, providing a versatile solution for a wide range of storage needs. “The TS2UT is a undemanding unit that takes advantage of hardware RAID by utilizing the Silicon Image 5744 chipset,” stated Grandy Chen, Sans Digital’s President. “With clear-cut features and controller interfaces, the TS2UT is an excellent backup solution even for users who are new to the concept of RAID.”
