Sun Will Distribute CommVault Simpana 7.0

Running on Sun Microsystems x64 server and storage systems

CommVault has entered into a
collaborative agreement with Sun Microsystems Inc., to provide
customers with advanced data management solutions for enterprise
computing environments.  Under the agreement, Sun will distribute
globally the CommVault Simpana 7.0 data and information management
software suite running on Sun Microsystems x64 server and storage
systems. Together, the two companies will assist customers in
optimizing their corporate infrastructures for 64-bit applications
based on Microsoft Corp. messaging and collaboration platforms.

This announcement helps users leverage the speed
and performance of 64-bit computing environments to run and fully
manage optimized 64-bit applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server
2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 on Sun server and
storage systems using CommVault software. The combined solution for
Microsoft enterprise deployments will be available through Sun’s direct
sales force, as well as the CommVault-authorized channel within Sun’s
global partner network.

"The completion of this agreement gives customers a
reliable, scalable and highly available solution built on CommVault’s
64-bit optimized data and information management software in
combination with Sun’s x64 platform,
" said Randy De Meno, chief
evangelist and Microsoft Partnership at CommVault. "CommVault’s proven
ability to assist and accelerate software upgrades to the 2007
Microsoft Office system for customers and fully protect
business-critical Microsoft applications is supported by Sun’s broad
enterprise experience
."

According to Art Licht, chief technologist for
Storage, Americas, Sun Microsystems, Inc., "The partnership with
CommVault furthers our commitment to providing customers with
comprehensive solutions for the Microsoft enterprise, including
Exchange Server 2007 and Office SharePoint Server 2007.  Sun’s
Microsoft Exchange Infrastructure Solutions focus is on providing a low
TCO per mailbox and high-value footprint.  CommVault software fits that
value proposition nicely and furthers it through its support of
Exchange Server, including previous versions. Now, by being able to
easily migrate to Exchange Server 2007, customers can truly take
advantage of the benefits of Sun’s 64-bit systems and storage, and
leverage Sun’s enterprise expertise.
"

Commenting on the combined Sun/CommVault solution,
Eddie Amos, general manager of Global ISV Partners at Microsoft Corp.
said, "Data and storage management is important to our customers now
more than ever, especially as the number of business-critical
applications deployed on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server
2003 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 accelerates. The combined
Sun/CommVault solution adds reliability, scalability and manageability
for our mutual customers and extends CommVault’s reputation for
best-of-class data management solutions for Microsoft applications in
large-scale heterogeneous environments
."

Key components of the agreement include technology
optimization, one-stop-shopping for Sun customers worldwide and support
linkage for customers purchasing CommVault Simpana software from Sun.
