Maximum Throughput and ARRI Team Up

To combine Sledgehammer storage system with their ARRISCAN film scanner

Maximum Throughput Inc., developers of software-based solutions for networked storage infrastructure and media management, announced today that ARRI, Inc. has certified its Sledgehammer system with their ARRISCAN film scanner.

Sledgehammer is an extremely fast network-attached storage (NAS) device employed by post production houses and broadcasters to fulfill their high-speed online storage needs. The ARRISCAN is a high speed, high quality film scanning device, suitable for all applications including digital intermediates, visual effects, restoration and archiving. A dedicated Infiniband-based link provides the transfer pipe between the two systems.

John Miller, Max-T’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales, had the following comment, “As we see more and more post production moving to 2K and even higher resolution, customers are demanding a turnkey method of scanning film and making the data available throughout their facilities. The combination of the ARRISCAN and Sledgehammer delivers exactly this.”

The ARRISCAN produces scanned images of amazing quality at very high rates, but a high speed storage repository is an absolute must in order to effectively address the post-scan, post production requirements. Our certification process demonstrates the compatibility of the Sledgehammer system with the ARRISCAN,” said Elfi Bernt, Product Manager ARRISCAN.
