Gander Mountain Has selected Netezza
For its enterprise data warehouse
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 21, 2008 at 3:20 pmNetezza Corporation announced that Gander Mountain has selected the Netezza
Performance Server (NPS) analytic appliance as its enterprise data
warehouse (EDW) solution. With Netezza, Gander Mountain will be able to run
analytics for merchandising, supply chain management and financial planning
faster and use the resulting reports to make better business decisions.
Gander Mountain is the nation’s largest retail network of stores for hunting,
fishing, camping, boating, marine and outdoor lifestyle products and services.
Product managers and merchandisers at the Company rely on its wealth of sales,
inventory and merchandising data to help them make informed buying and marketing
decisions. However, Gander Mountain’s existing data warehouse was unable
to keep up with the increased data volume and analytic demand, resulting in
long data load times and the inability to generate necessary reports and analyses.
With the NPS appliance as its EDW, Gander Mountain plans to achieve faster reporting,
dramatically reduced data load times and significantly faster query performance.
This speed, combined with more in-depth analyses on sales and inventory management
processes, will allow the Company to make more informed, data-driven decisions.
“In order to stay competitive in the retail industry, important marketing
and sales decisions need to be made quickly, but also need to be based on quantifiable
data and sound business theory,” said Andy Winans, vice president of retail
and CPG at Netezza. “Netezza provides some of the world’s leading
retailers with the ability to quickly and simply analyze only the relevant data
to help them make smart business decisions. Using the NPS system, companies
like Gander Mountain are able to access the most up-to-date data and perform
key analyses quickly, resulting in optimum business decisions and strategies.”
