David Cuyler Named to the New Position of Director of Membership Development for the CDSA

He will be responsible for representing CDSA before the LA-based home video, game and music content community.

David C. Cuyler has been named to the new position of Director of
Membership Development, for the Content Delivery & Storage
Association (CDSA). Cuyler will be responsible for representing CDSA’s
membership of content service providers and suppliers before the Los
Angeles-based home video, game and music content community.

For more than 20 years, Cuyler has played a pioneering role in the
development and commercialization of new entertainment formats and
distribution, having served as Executive Vice President for Paramount
Home Entertainment, and President & CEO for Deluxe Video Services.

As
the association responsible for providing secure, responsible and
innovative technology and business solutions for content holders, it is
vital that CDSA establish close and synergistic relationships with our
members’ customers. David’s experience on both sides of the business
puts him in unique position to build relationships in Hollywood on
behalf of our membership,
” says CDSA president Charles Van Horn.

Based
in Los Angeles, Cuyler will also be responsible for reaching out to a
wider range of physical media and electronic content delivery and
storage providers. CDSA, formerly the International Recording Media
Association (IRMA), was relaunched in 2007 with a mission to provide
association representation for its current membership of disc
replicators, packagers, and content service, as well as for the new and
emerging category of digital media services and distribution technology
providers.

CDSA is now focused on a path that will
build upon its 38 years of service to the companies who serve the
content community,
” says Cuyler. “With so many challenges, from
high-definition to online delivery, the studios, publishers and labels
are growing increasingly dependent upon an open dialogue and business
partnership with their suppliers and service providers. CDSA will
continue to build bridges to drive the business forward and I am
delighted to play a role in this development.

In 1978,
Cuyler was recruited by Bell & Howell to support the company’s
introduction of duplication services to Hollywood studios and the cable
television industry. A succession of promotions catapulted him into the
position of Vice President Entertainment Sales, where he was
responsible for pioneering the early home delivery of motion pictures
through the VHS and Betamax formats.

In 1993, Cuyler
was appointed as President & Chief Executive Officer of Rank Cintel
Video Services of America, increasing its sales to nearly $1 billion
annually and its earnings by nearly 300 percent. Over his five-year
tenure, he provided consultation within the manufacturing, distribution
and strategic service sectors for Universal Pictures, Twentieth Century
Fox, Columbia Pictures and Paramount Pictures.

In
1999, Cuyler left Rank Cintel (now called Deluxe Media) to join
Paramount Pictures as Executive Vice President of their Home
Entertainment Division, responsible for worldwide finance, strategic
planning, acquisitions and operations.
