Replit Acquires Atta to Expand Beyond AI Coding into Business Analytics
Acquisition strengthens Replit's ambitions to combine AI application development, business intelligence and data visualization
By Philippe Nicolas | November 6, 2026 at 2:00 pmReplit announced the acquisition of AI analytics startup Atta, marking a strategic expansion beyond its traditional developer-focused platform into business intelligence and data analytics.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Although some reports describe Atta as Egyptian, the company was founded and operated in San Francisco.
Founded by Omar Shaik and Amine Ben Khalifa, Atta developed an AI-powered analytics platform enabling business users to explore datasets, monitor KPIs, model revenue scenarios and generate interactive visualizations without writing SQL. Both founders are joining Replit, bringing their expertise in conversational analytics and automated data interpretation.
The acquisition has already produced its first integration. Through Replit Agent, users can upload datasets or connect external data sources, ask questions in natural language and automatically generate interactive charts. The technology supports sophisticated visualizations, including waterfall charts for revenue analysis and heatmaps for customer retention.
Interestingly, Replit CEO Amjad Masad and president Michele Catasta were early angel investors in Atta, establishing a relationship approximately two years before the acquisition.
The transaction follows Replit’s reported $400 million Series D financing in March 2026, which valued the company at $9 billion, approximately three times its previous valuation.
Strategically, this acquisition illustrates Replit’s ambition to evolve from an AI-assisted software development environment into a broader enterprise productivity platform. By combining application creation, data analysis and visualization within a conversational interface, Replit aims to attract business executives, marketing teams and operational users beyond its existing developer community.
The challenge will be demonstrating enterprise adoption, analytical reliability and measurable business value in an increasingly competitive AI analytics market.
Ultimately, Atta represents a relatively small but strategically significant acquisition, accelerating Replit’s transformation toward AI-driven business operations and potentially challenging established business intelligence vendors.
