IBC 2026: Evertz Demonstrates Native Media eXchange Layer Integration

As part of its ongoing support for Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) initiatives, Evertz showcased MXLenabled solutions, as well as at the Amazon Web Services stand, and Oracle stand.
DMF is an EBU initiative focused on developing software-defined infrastructure for media facilities. The Joint Task Force on Dynamic Media Facilities (JT-DMF) brings together industry expertise to define technologies, architectures and open specs for service-oriented media operations. MXL is an open-source software technology that provides a common method for accessing and exchanging media between software functions within a DMF architecture.
Native MXL Support for Live Production
At IBC 2026, Evertz demonstrated native MXL v1.1 support across several software-based solutions for live production.
Reflektor serves as Evertz’s cloud on-ramp and processing edge, supporting a broad range of media formats and transport protocols, including SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, compressed streams, SRT, Zixi and RIST. Reflektor converts these inputs to MXL, providing a gateway for existing broadcast facilities to adopt DMF architectures and exchange media seamlessly between software applications.
A key application within the live production environment is DreamCatcher, Evertz’s comprehensive platform for ingest, replay and playout. With native MXL support, DreamCatcher can operate as a software function within a DMF architecture, enabling production capabilities to be deployed and connected within a software-defined environment.
MXL-Enabled Monitoring with cVIP
Evertz cVIP is a software-based multiviewer and monitoring solution deployed across cloud-based production and playout environments. With the recent addition of MXL support, cVIP can now ingest and monitor a wide range of media and transport formats used in live production, including NDI, MPEG-2, H.264, JPEG XS, SRT and RIST.
Together, these solutions demonstrate Evertz’s commitment to open, software-defined media architectures and provide broadcasters with a practical path toward DMF-based workflows. By integrating MXL natively across its live production portfolio, Evertz enables media functions to be deployed, connected and orchestrated within a flexible, interoperable infrastructure.
