Designed for Permanent Digital Preservation
The new architecture is focused on organizations that require information to remain authentic, accessible and secure for decades, including governments, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, archives, museums, scientific institutions and critical infrastructure operators.

By combining OAIS Cloud’s ISO 16363-certified digital preservation environment and ISO 14721 (OAIS) preservation architecture with Savartus autonomous storage infrastructure and Folio Photonics optical media innovation, the platform is designed to address one of the world’s greatest technology challenges: preserving rapidly growing volumes of digital information securely, authentically and independently of technological change for generations.

Partnership Quotes:
“The challenge is no longer simply storing information – it is ensuring that critical digital assets remain authentic, accessible and technologically independent for generations. OAIS Cloud transforms storage into long-term digital preservation through an architecture based on the ISO 14721 OAIS model and an ISO 16363-certified trusted digital repository environment. Combined with Savartus’ autonomous archive infrastructure and Folio Photonics’ next-generation optical media, this creates a new class of sovereign preservation infrastructure capable of scaling from petabytes to exabytes,” said Roberto Carminati, founder and CEO, OAIS Cloud.

“Digital preservation at this scale requires more than durable media, it requires an infrastructure designed around the realities of operating an archive for decades. This partnership brings together the preservation framework, autonomous infrastructure and optical technology needed to build archives that can grow without becoming increasingly complex or costly to operate. For Savartus, the opportunity is to help turn those technologies into practical, sovereign preservation platforms that organizations can deploy today and continue to rely on far into the future,” added Rick Bump, co-founder and CEO, Savartus.

“The growth of AI, scientific data and digital government are creating an unprecedented need for storage technologies that are both economically sustainable and built for long retention periods. Folio Photonics’ multilayer optical media is designed to dramatically increase archival density while reducing energy consumption and long-term storage costs. This partnership brings that innovation into a complete preservation architecture that can help organizations protect their most valuable digital assets for generations,” concluded Steven Santamaria, CEO, Folio Photonics.

EMP-Immune Cloud Infrastructure
A key innovation of the partnership is the development of cloud infrastructures based on the EMP Immune Layer, an architecture designed to maximize cyber resilience, operational continuity and long-term protection against both cyber threats and physical risks.

The platform combines:

  • Trusted Digital Repository
  • EMP Immune Data Storage
  • Autonomous optical archive infrastructure
  • Multi-tier cloud architecture
  • Active Archive technologies
  • Immutable storage
  • Multi-site replication
  • Air-gapped preservation
  • Cyber-resilient storage architecture
  • Immutable storage
  • Multi-site replication
  • Air-gapped preservation

The result is a preservation environment specifically engineered for mission-critical digital assets.

Petabyte-Scale Libraries. Exabyte-Scale Cloud
The partnership enables the deployment of preservation environments capable of supporting:

  • Petabyte-scale optical library racks
  • Exabyte-scale cloud preservation environments
  • Modular expansion without service interruption
  • Continuous technology evolution with media migration planning
  • Reduced long-term energy consumption compared with traditional disk-based storage

This architecture is intended for organizations managing extremely large repositories, including national archives, digital government platforms, scientific data, satellite imagery, financial records and cultural heritage collections.

OAIS Cloud to Lead Early Market Deployments
OAIS Cloud will serve as the initial go-to-market operator, leading customer engagement, solution deployment, cloud operations and Archive-as-a-Service offerings for strategic Brazilian accounts identified by the parties.

Initial strategic markets include:

  • Digital Government
  • Artificial Intelligence data repositories
  • Digital preservation platforms
  • Financial Institutions
  • National Archives
  • Public Cloud Providers
  • Defense
  • Healthcare
  • Enterprise Active Archive

Preserving Data for the AI Era
As organizations increasingly rely on artificial intelligence, preserving massive volumes of training datasets, digital evidence and historical information becomes critical. The joint platform is designed to preserve information independently of application software, storage hardware or cloud providers, supporting long-term accessibility and authenticity.

Building the Future of Digital Preservation
The strategic collaboration represents a significant milestone for Brazil’s digital preservation ecosystem by combining international storage innovation with OAIS Cloud’s expertise in trusted digital repositories and preservation operations.

The companies expect the platform to support next-generation sovereign cloud initiatives, large-scale archival systems and long-term preservation projects requiring the highest levels of resilience, scalability and technological independence.
