Xiaomi Launched its Smart Storage NAS

Xiaomi has entered the home NAS market with its first product, the “Smart Storage,” launched July 1 via crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Youpin platform.It’s a compact two-bay NAS (161×200.5×85mm) supporting 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA drives, with capacity up to 60TB (30TB per bay). Pricing starts at CNY 2,299 (~$338) for a 4TB configuration, rising to CNY 2,899 (~$427) for 8TB and CNY 4,699 (~$691) for 16TB.

Reportedly using a Realtek RTD1619B chipset alongside 4GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage, though Xiaomi cites a “high-performance quad-core processor.” It integrates with Xiaomi’s Mi Home ecosystem, allowing setup via QR code scan and connectivity with Xiaomi phones, tablets, cameras, and smart devices. Features include multi-device auto-backup (phone, WeChat, security cameras), remote file access, real-time 4K transcoding/streaming with HDR10, and wireless screen casting. Ports include one USB 3.0 Type-A, one HDMI (4K30Hz), and 2.5G Ethernet, with active cooling. The crowdfunding campaign reportedly drew over 30,000 orders in its first hour. No global launch date has been confirmed yet.
