SNIA Launches MRAM Alliance SIG to Support Expanding use of MRAM

SNIA announced the launch of the MRAM Alliance Special Interest Group (SIG) and is inviting industry stakeholders from foundries to chip and system companies to participate in a collaborative effort to ensure optimal use and maximize benefits of MRAM across applications ranging from low-power edge devices to high-performance subsystems. Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM), which offers a unique combination of attributes, is becoming a key enabling technology in a wide range of high-growth applications, such as automotive chips, edge devices, AI-based systems, and high-performance computing.

SNIA’s MRAM Alliance SIG is designed to bring together foundries, chip makers, memory manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and system companies to accelerate MRAM adoption. It will provide a collaborative framework for stakeholders to align on key priorities, improve education and awareness, create standards when applicable, and facilitate product implementation.

The initiative builds on prior industry collaboration within the “MRAM Technology Group”, already involving the leading companies and research organizations in the field. It is now expanding within SNIA to include the semiconductor value chain as well as several application verticals. 

“MRAM has been in production at the leading foundries for several years and the focus now is no longer technology development, but ecosystem alignment,” said Jean-Pierre Nozières, Co-Chair, MRAM Alliance SIG. “This initiative is about bringing together stakeholders across the whole value chain, from foundries to chip makers and system companies, to align on key priorities and maximize end-system product benefits.”

The announcement comes as the industry gathers at INTERMAG 2026, where the MRAM Alliance SIG is hosting a dedicated session on magnetic immunity in real-world environments. Members of the MRAM Alliance SIG will be present at the event, providing an opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders across the ecosystem.
