Availability of Asustor ADM 5.0 NAS OS

With customizable toolbar, ADM Defender, SSH keys for secure logins, OpenSSL and Samba ipgraded, Linux Kernel version to 6.6 LTS, and text file editing

Asustor Inc. has released ADM 5.0 NAS OS for all supported the company’s NAS devices.

ADM 5.0 further enhances the user experience, system stability and performance, while also providing advanced security features while improving file storage stability and performance.

Customizable Toolbar

The redesigned ADM 5.0 toolbar allows users to display it at the top or bottom of the screen as well as auto-hide it. This flexibility ensures optimal screen space utilization, enabling access to ADM functionalities across devices with varying screen sizes.

Functional and Aesthetic
ADM 5.0 incorporates a user centric design approach, revamping the layout and information display for hard drives and M.2 SSDs in Storage Manager. Desktop icons and preference settings are streamlined to deliver a visually appealing and practical user experience. The login page adapts automatically to different screen sizes, orientations, and ratios, and now supports vertical screen displays for enhanced productivity.

The all-new ADM Defender offers default and customizable firewall rules, with intelligent security features that actively block suspicious IP connections and monitor network packets to intercept potential threats. This standalone app simplifies the activation of firewall and security features, significantly reducing the risk of NAS attacks and boosting ADM’s data security.

Using SSH to access your NAS unlocks powerful functionality. Enabling SSH key authentication improves security as well as convenience, eliminating the need for simple, easy-to-breach passwords or overly complex ones that are hard to remember. Unique keys for different administrator accounts, combined with private key storage on SSH clients, allow password logins to no longer be necessary, greatly enhancing SSH connection security.

ADM 5.0 upgrades OpenSSL and encryption standards across all connections. Whether using Samba for Windows or macOS, FTP, Rsync, or web connections, ADM now offers faster and more stable encrypted connections, strengthening the security of Asustor NAS devices.

The all new SAMBA makes SMB multichannel no longer experimental. SMB Multichannel enables the combination of multiple network ports for improved network speeds and fault tolerance, boosting local file transfer performance.

New Kernel is Better Kernel

Asustor Adm 5.0 Linux 6.6 Lts

ADM 5.0 upgrades the Linux Kernel version to 6.6 LTS. Kernel 6.6 LTS introduces numerous security fixes and solutions for potential vulnerabilities. This kernel enhances system and Btrfs performance and stability, while expanding compatibility with new hardware, opening up more possibilities for future hardware integration.

Text File Editing
ADM 5.0 introduces support for editing plain text files. By downloading the new text editor app from App Central, it is possible to directly create or edit various text files on a company’s NAS and edit them without using a PC.

ADM 5.0 system requirements: AS52, AS53, AS54, AS63, AS64, Lockerstor/Gen2/Gen3, Lockerstor Pro, Flashstor Gen1/Gen2.
