Abstract: This paper examines the Inter Planetary File System (IPFS), a decentralized file storage and distribution protocol that aims to supplant the traditional client-server model of the internet with a distributed paradigm. The research objectives encompass evaluating the performance of IPFS in terms of storage and retrieval speed, assessing its security features, and exploring potential use cases. Experiments were conducted to measure the performance of IPFS and to compare it with traditional centralized storage solutions. The findings reveal that IPFS offers several advantages over centralized storage solutions, such as enhanced security, superior efficiency, and the capability to function without a single point of failure. However, there are also limitations, including the requirement for ample network bandwidth and storage resources.
