Synology UC3400 and SA3400D 2U Rackmount Dual-Controller Systems for HA

Synology, Inc. announced the addition of 2 dual-controller systems to its enterprise data management solutions: the UC3400, an active-active system designed for mission-critical SAN storage, and the SA3400D, a versatile active-passive system for NAS and SAN applications.

Both provide HA with shared storage and can accommodate up to 576TB when fully expanded.

“The UC3400 and SA3400D provide cost and space-efficient high availability for businesses and organizations of all sizes,” said Peggy Weng, product manager. “They are tailored respectively to provide highly reliable block storage within the context of a SAN or ensure the highest uptime for file sharing and office applications.”

Active-active SAN for high-uptime block storage
The UC3400 is a solution for virtualization. It offers reliable, HA block storage over iSCSI and FC. Its active-active dual-controller architecture allows for instant failover, meaning it’s ready for organizations seeking a zero-downtime solution for critical systems and services.

The UC3400 includes data protection designed to meet regulatory compliance. Support for self-encrypting drives keeps data protected vs. physical loss or theft, and off-site snapshot replication adds another degree of protection vs. both malware and physical disaster.

Versatile HA solution for office applications
The SA3400D offers value for organizations of every size by combining reliability and efficiency in a compact system. Its HA active-passive architecture supports minute-level failover times, minimizing service downtime. Support for hybrid storage arrays allows the SA3400D to leverage the speed of SSDs in combination with the efficiency of HDDs, making it capable of a range of different workloads.

With support for the company’s DSM OS, the SA3400D offers enhanced functionality through an array of first and 3rd-party software packages.

In addition to Snapshot Replication and Hyper Backup for data and system backups, the firm’s Active Backup Suite also provides a solution for managing organization-level backups of Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints, virtual servers, and cloud applications. The SA3400D can also empower distributed teams to collaborate and share files using the company’s suite of online productivity applications.
