History 2002: IBM Has New Storage Software Division

Even though it already has subsidiary, Tivoli, entirely dedicated to storage software.

One thing is certain: it is often times difficult to understand Big Blue’s decisions.

Even though it already has a subsidiary, Tivoli, entirely dedicated to storage software, IBM Storage Systems Group (SSG) has now decided to create a new organization, the Storage Software Division to focus on virtualization and StorageTank.

Its products will complement Tivoli offerings,” commented IBM.

The new division will be led by GM Mike Zisman, reporting to SVP of SSG Linda Sanford. Zisman was formerly VP of emerging business development, reporting to Big Blue’s vice-chairman John Thompson.
