IBM Spectrum Sentinel delivers automated cyber resilience and automatic recovery orchestration in primary storage

IBM Spectrum Sentinel delivers an end-to-end, automated cyber resilience workflow solution designed to help isolate and protect copies of data, detect file corruption due to cyber or ransomware attacks, and enable accelerated recovery of data from clean copies in primary storage.

It offers immutable snapshots, ransomware anomaly detection, and automatic recovery orchestration for primary storage.

As digital threats continue to evolve, enterprises around the world are adopting increasingly rigorous cyber protection strategies, with many relying on IBM products and technologies to protect their vital data. Spectrum Sentinel from IBM Storage helps businesses better detect and recover from ransomware faster using authenticated restore points and real-time monitoring to help recover clean backups of their data.

Spectrum Sentinel 1.1 is a bundled offering that consists of Spectrum Copy Data Management software and an anomaly scan software product. It is available to use with FlashSystem and SAN Volume Controller (SVC) storage. Starting with version 2.2.16, Spectrum Copy Data Management can orchestrate the creation and management of application-aware, Safeguarded Copy snapshots and backups (immutable point-in-time copies of data) in the FlashSystem family and SVC storage for an anomaly scan, allowing for speedier data recovery from clean primary storage copies. Spectrum Sentinel 1.1 supports ransomware detection of Epic application with InterSystems Caché and IRIS databases only.

Key requirements
Spectrum Sentinel, which contains Spectrum Copy Data Management 2.2.16, requires the following:

• A workstation running Linux for the anomaly scan software
• Spectrum Virtualize 8.5.1, or later, for IBM FlashSystem storage

Note:
Safeguarded Copy will not be supported on FlashSystem 50xx, Storwize 50xx, or Storwize V7000G2/G2+ models. Clients who are running on these storage systems and are interested in Safeguarded Copy are advised to upgrade. Alternatively, the Safeguarded Copy function can be used through the SVC if affected FlashSystem 50xx or Storwize 50xx system is virtualized behind SVC.
