The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Disclosed herein is a method of operating a plenoptic data storage system. The method may include obtaining plenoptic image data from a plenoptic camera array, generating additional information pertaining to the plenoptic image data, performing compression-coding on the plenoptic image data, and storing the additional information and the compression-coded plenoptic image data in a storage device in accordance with a storage format.”
