Isuzu Motors South Africa Selects Veeam Backup & Replication

Veeam Software, Inc. announced that Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAF) replaced legacy backup with its Backup & Replication to protect revenue streams.

Veeam accomplishes this by recovering SAP 99% faster than legacy backup (in minutes, not hours or days), strengthening the company’s BC and DR strategy with replication, failover and failback, and supporting compliance with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act.

“Veeam protects our revenue streams by reducing the risk of downtime,” said Loren Meyer, CIO, IMSAF. “That means we always have access to the critical SAP data that is integral to our production facilities, enabling bakkies (small pick-up trucks) and trucks to be sold to dealers and customers – without delay or interruption. Protecting enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP is a concern for many businesses. According to the Forbes Technology Council [DPY1], 89% of companies surveyed worry about ERP downtime, and they estimate the damage could cost $5 million.

Veeam is a SAP-certified backup and recovery solution. The Veeam plug-in for SAP HANA lets IMSAF manage backup and restore natively through backint integration. The plug-in functions as an intermediary between SAP HANA and the Veeam backup repository; therefore, all backup and recovery operations are performed with native SAP HANA tools to simplify management and assure transaction consistency.
