Storgate SOSA V.3.5

Given recent enactment date, U.S. Cloud Act's compatibility with EU GDPR still open question

Since Storgate Solutions first released SOSA (Storegate Online Storage Application) in 2003, it has developed and improved the platform.

Storegate Sosa Scheme

Before summer the company will launch SOSA 3.5 and there will be a load of functions that will presented in connection with the launch.

Cloud Act – Threat or opportunity?
Give your customers the opportunity to store their information in a cloud service that are not affected by other countries legislations. Many companies and authorities have problems with using US cloud services for all their information due to the U.S. Cloud Act legislation. It allows U.S. law enforcement agencies to issue warrants to gain access to data held by organizations under U.S. jurisdiction, even if such data is held outside the U.S. and such data involves individuals other than U.S. citizens. Given its relatively recent enactment date, the U.S. Cloud Act’s compatibility with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is still an open question.

Customer example – Telia Safe IT
So, for affected companies and authorities with this type of information there are two options: store in-house in their own infrastructure or use a cloud service hosted and owned by a domestic provider. For both options the SOSA platform is a solution. For example, in Sweden,
Telia AB have launched the Telia Safe IT concept. It offers a package for companies who want the advantages with cloud services but still wants to stay in control over their digital data. Telia Safe IT includes Office 365, antivirus, backup and file share/collaboration. For the customer this means that they can use all services for their workplace as usual, but all files in the backup and file share/collaboration services are stored in Sweden under Swedish legislation.
