Online Tech: DR as a Service for Security Storage

Online Tech LLC has announced that it is providing DR as a Service (DRaaS) for a national equipment distributor to help the company protect its data and keep its systems running without disruption in the wake of a recent ransomware attack.

The company’s DRaaS, like all solutions across its cloud solutions portfolio, is delivered from a foundation of security and compliance that encompasses all products, processes and business operations.

In 2018, the national distributor secured the firm’s DRaaS to provide failover capabilities for approximately one quarter of its critical servers. Later, the company experienced a ransomware attack. This DRaaS quickly recovered the systems it covered and had the servers up and running for production within approximately 15 minutes. Following the attack, the distributor moved all remaining systems to the company’s DRaaS, since those previously unsecured portions required days of manual work to restore from backup and get the full environment running again.

The distributor’s complete environment is now protected by the firm’s DRaaS in a redundant off-site location, safeguarding all of the company’s valuable data. In the event of another ransomware attack, the company is completely protected and can have all systems restored within a matter of hours thanks to the short recovery time and recovery point objectives. The company’s staff also acts immediately to support clients with additional security solutions to ensure that no re-infection occurs.
