NAB: Elements Unveils Bolt 2U Storage Appliance

Elements (Syslink GmbH), developer of solutions for unrestricted collaboration in shared media workflows, is launching a storage appliance at NAB 2019.

The company’s BOLT provides fast performance with high bandwidth and double the throughput from a compact 2U chassis, even when working in resolutions of 8K+. Leveraging the power of PCIe bandwidth bus technology and without the limitations of standard SAS/SATA bus technology, BOLT provides up to 25GB/s read performance and delivers high-levels of IO/s rates with almost zero latencies. BOLT supports up to 32Gb FC and 100GbE with RDMA. As a scalable system, it can provide petabytes of usable capacity at more than 100GB/s when set-up as a cluster.

The firm’s MAM tool Media Library will also be demonstrated at NAB with several new features. Amongst others, it can now send automatic project updates and notifications to authorized Slack users via an implemented Slack interface. A new ‘smart recycle bin’ will also be shown for the first time.

In addition, workflow automation within all the firm’s appliances has been improved. The overhauled edition of the company’s Task Manager sports a new design with enhanced security features and more flexible template options, including ‘automated sub steps,’ for more precision and accuracy of workflow automation processes.

Visitors can experience the set of workflow enhancement tools embedded in every company’s appliance. Media Library incorporates many one-of-a-kind features, including an embedded media player that can playbackup to four videos simultaneously – selectively synchronous and asynchronous, allowing comparison of four editing versions concurrently. It also contains a Rough-Cut Editor comparable to other professional editing tools that cover editing rough-cut functionalities. In addition, its editor enhances and simplifies approval and communication processes during projects by allowing for frame-accurate comments and even drawings on the source material to indicate areas of interest.

The BOLT appliance will be available at NAB. The firm’s human-centered storage line-up ONE, NAS, Gateway, and the mobile storage CUBE are available.
