Scalable pooled NVMe storage box
By Francis Pelletier | April 5, 2019 at 2:27 pmQuanta Computer Inc., Taoyuan, Taiwan, has been assigned a patent (10,223,313) developed by Shih, Ching-Chih, Taoyuan, Taiwan, for a “scalable pooled NVMe storage box that comprises a PCIe switch further connected to one or more switches and switch ports.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”Various examples of the present technology provide a cluster-architecture to support a scalable pooled-NVMe storage box that can be shared among a scalable number of nodes. The scalable pooled-NVMe storage box comprises NVMe drives, one or more switches and one or more switch ports. The number of NVMe drives in the scalable scalable-pooled-NVMe storage box can be scaled up or down based upon a number of nodes that need to share the scalable pooled-NVMe storage box.”
The patent application was filed on June 28, 2016 (15/195,261).
