The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”According to one aspect of the disclosure, there is provided a storage device that includes: a storage medium, and circuitry that reads identification information stored on an integrated circuit card, IC card, and performs authentication using the identification information read by the circuitry and basic identification information stored in a specific area of the storage medium.”
