Selective backup strategy in enterprise
By Francis Pelletier | March 1, 2019 at 2:08 pmTata Consultancy Services Ltd., Mumbai, India, has been assigned a patent (10,198,322) developed by Manjunath, Sumesh, Shukla, Manish, Lodha, Sachin Premsukh, Saxena, Rohit, and Mondal, Sutapa, Pune, India, for a “method and system for efficient selective backup strategy in an enterprise.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”The present disclosure provides systems and methods to optimize data backup in a distributed enterprise system by firstly generating a set of unique files from all the files available in the enterprise. A backup set comprising files to be backed up are then generated from the set of unique files and backup is scheduled in the order in which the files to be backed up are identified. Unique files are generated based on file sharing patterns and communications among users that enable generating a social network graph from which one or more communities can be detected and deduplication can be performed on the files hosted by client systems in these communities thereby conserving resources.”
