SwiftStack Supporting Veeam Cloud Tier

SwiftStack, Inc., in multi-cloud storage and management, announced support for the Veeam Cloud Tier, unveiled at Velocity 2019, Veeam’s annual sales kickoff event.

The day-one support is the result of companies’ partnership efforts to mitigate the growth of data enterprises must manage, store, recover, and utilize.

Growing backup loads and compliance requirements have created a need for longer-term data retention that is more cost-effective than what traditional storage infrastructure can deliver. Cloud Tier provides unlimited capacity for long-term data retention by using native, cost-effective object storage integrations, such as cloud or on-premises object storage.

SwiftStack supports Veeam’s backup and recovery capabilities and allows users to realize the economy and elasticity of cloud, whether in their own datacenter, across multiple geographic regions, and/or to the public cloud. Unlike using cold storage for long-term retention, data stored on SwiftStack always remains active and available on demand.

Local data on Veeam servers can be moved between performance and capacity tiers created in SwiftStack based on management and retention policies. Stubs representing the migrated files, along with associated metadata, are maintained in the performance tier, while the longer-term retention data lives on SwiftStack. Other policies can be assigned based on protection, location, access, or other requirements. SwiftStack stores data in a durable manner across its cluster and can replicate the data offsite to another datacenter or public cloud to protect against a major disaster.
