Quanta Computer Assigned Two Patents

Identification of storage device for trouble shooting
Quanta Computer Inc., Taoyuan, Taiwan, has been assigned a patent (9,713,215) developed by Shih, Ching-Chih, Taoyuan, Taiwan, for a “identification of storage device for trouble shooting.“

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A management controller can dynamically manage a status light of a storage device in a server rack system. For example, an administrative device can determine which storage device in the server rack has a problem and can send an out-of-band request to the management controller indicating the error associated with a particular storage device. The request includes a command to operate a light associated with the failed storage device. The management controller can then generate commands for operating the status light associated with the failed storage device via at least one of a light controller or a SAS expander.“

The patent application was filed on July 16, 2015 (14/801,403).

Hard disk assembly
Quanta Computer Inc., Taoyuan, Taiwan, has been assigned a patent (9,703,332) developed by Chen, Chao-Jung, Tsorng, Yaw-Tzorng, and Liu, Kun-Pei, Taoyuan, Taiwan, for a “hard disk assembly.“

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A hard disk assembly includes a tray, a bracket, and a carrier. The tray includes plural protrusions. The bracket is disposed on the tray for fastening a hard disk device. The bracket includes a bracket body having plural slots thereon, and plural pins disposed on opposite sides of the bracket body. The slots are respectively engaged with the protrusions. The pins are disposed between the bracket and the tray. The carrier is pivotally connected to the tray. The carrier includes two ribs. Each rib has a curved surface for touching and pulling the pins. Therefore the bracket can be slidably moved on the tray along the slots.“
