This capacity scale-out and single namespace feature primarily focuses on expandable storage capacity while keeping TCO at a minimum. This feature allows users to continuously add more capacity to the EliteNAS system environment without restructuring the existing configuration and without backing up and restoring the existing data coming in and out. The entire solution provides a platform for adding new EliteNAS nodes only when needed for instant capacity expansion without the huge upfront investment. Many scale-out solutions in the market including SCALA product line require at least three server nodes with two metadata servers to start. With the EliteNAS capacity scale-out feature, you can start from a single node to any number of nodes or add nodes whenever needed for a flexible, cost effective scale-out solution.

The global namespace functions as a single NAS to all the clients regardless of how many EliteNAS nodes are in the network. This allows for capacity expansion to the Petabyte level while being virtually invisible to the clients in the network. The global namespace approach to file management greatly simplifies file management, as it frees the system administrators to add, delete, move, and modify physical storage without affecting how clients in the network access it. Global namespace eliminates any need for client reconfiguration, drive letter remapping, or login scripts modification when storage is reconfigured.
