… Computex: Client SSD With 64-Layer 3D NAND Technology From Western Digital

Start at $100 for Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD and SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 2.5-Inch/7mm version or Blue M.2 2280 version

Western Digital Corporation (WDC) announced client SSD built with its 64-layer 3D NAND technology.

This technology enables the company to deliver new SSDs with lower power consumption and performance, endurance and capacities. This is the latest achievement in a nearly three-decades-long legacy of flash memory industry firsts from the company.

Delivering 64-layer 3D NAND-based SSDs into the PC segment marks a critical step in ur ongoing conversion to this new techology, as well as long-term benefits for our customers,” said Michael Cordano, president and COO, Western Digital. “Between our two, strong brands in SanDisk and WD, and their respective loyal customer bases and distribution channels, these new SSDs will appeal to a very broad footprint of the computing population seeking the benefits of today’s newest technologies.

The company announced initial production of the world’s first 64-layer 3D NAND technology in July 2016 and the world’s first 48-layer 3D NAND technology in 2015; product shipments of both technologies continue for retail and OEM customers.
