CloudBerry Lab Integrates AWS Snowball
Into Backup Server Edition, for $120 one-time cost
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 2, 2016 at 2:51 pmCloudBerry Lab, Inc. has announced their Backup Server Edition product integrates with AWS Snowball, a petabyte-scale data transport appliance that can securely transfer 50TB per appliance of data into and out of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Firm’s customers can start taking advantage of cloud-based backup immediately, without the challenge of porting vast amounts of data over the Internet.
“Fueled by affordable bandwidth and capacity optimization technologies, cloud-based backup is becoming a popular alternative to portable backup media,” says Alexey Serkov, CTO, CloudBerry. “However, depending on the total capacity of data, the first full backup can be time-consuming and cause problems for production systems. By integrating CloudBerry Backup with AWS Snowball, we are validating our commitment to make backup as simple, resource- and time-efficient as possible for our customers.“
Using AWS Snowball addresses common challenges with large-scale data transfers including high network costs, long transfer times, and security concerns. Transferring data with AWS Snowball is simple, fast, secure, and can be one-fifth the cost of high-speed Internet.
Company enables SMBs to backup critical files and folders to the cloud storage vendor of their choice. It allows users to configure a backup plan that will upload data to the AWS Snowball appliance. Once the device is sent back to AWS and data is uploaded to Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), users will see the data online and be able to continue backup by uploading only increments (new and changed blocks of the data). Customers who leverage the company’s Backup with AWS Snowball integration will continue to experience the firm’s Lab-specific benefits of user-controlled encryption, an easy-to-use GUI and flat pricing based on the number of issued licenses.
This integration will be available starting with firm’s Backup Server Edition version 4.8. Backup Server Edition is available for a $119.99 one-time cost, including one year of free maintenance and upgrades. After the first year, customers can pay 20% of the initial license cost for each additional year of maintenance and upgrades.
