HGST Delivers VMware Virtual SAN Support for Enterprise and Cloud Data Center

HGST, Inc. announced a portfolio of certified devices for VMware Virtual SAN, VMware’s software-defined storage product.

The HGST hardware certification list includes 12Gb SAS SSDs, PCIe flash accelerators, as well as performance and capacity HDDs from the company’s Ultrastar family, including the helium-filled HDD product line. Together, these certified devices provide interoperable storage tiers for VMware Virtual SAN.

The VMware Compatibility Guide includes the Ultrastar He6 SAS 512n, from Ultrastar helium-filled HDDs; the Ultrastar C10K1800 SAS 512n and Ultrastar C15K600 SAS 512n performance HDDs; the entire FlashMAX PCIe SSD family; the s1122 PCIe Accelerator; S842 and S846 SAS SSDs; and family of 12Gb SAS Ultrastar SSD800MH.B and Ultrastar SSD1600MM SSDs. All of these solutions offer VMware Virtual SAN customers the flexibility to granularly scale-up or scale-out their storage environment, while maintaining performance and endurance for mission-critical applications.
