Pivot3 Unveils vSTAC R2S Appliances …

Pivot3, Inc. announced its vSTAC R2S appliance line, delivering improved performance and desktop density, while reducing the cost per desktop.

The vSTAC R2S is compatible with the existing R2 family, and incorporates new processor upgrades (2 x dual 8 core Ivy Bridge E5-2650 v2 processors) that deliver 24% more desktops per appliance while reducing corresponding per desktop infrastructure costs by up to 14%.

Unlike all other VDI hybrid storage or converged infrastructure appliances, the vSTAC R2 and R2S appliances are purpose-built to cost-effectively deploy VMware Horizon Suite. The vSTAC R2S appliance can not only handle the IOP needs for VMware Horizon View virtualized desktops but it can also handle the high capacity requirements of VMware Horizon Mirage and VMware Horizon Workspace all within the same appliance. By leveraging VMware’s View Storage Accelerator, vSTAC R2S customers can benefit from in-memory caching performance without having to pay for unnecessary and expensive read-side media. Each vSTAC R2S appliance can support between 117 to 154 virtual desktops and can be dynamically and automatically scaled-out with additional vSTAC appliances.
