Serial Cables Introduces 12Gb SAS JBOD

Serial
Cables, LLC announced a 12Gb SAS 8 port DAS JBOD, the SA-ENC12G-01A.

This 8-port JBOD features a Quarch designed SAS-3.0 compliant 12G
backplane, an 80mm fan for air flow with malfunction alarm, specialized direct
attach backplane cables, support for up to 32TB capacity (when using eight 4TB
HDDs), up to 1,200MB/s throughput (when using 12Gb SAS SSDs) and a 150W
auto-sensing power supply.

It includes specially designed and
manufactured cables for directly attaching the SAS or SATA drives directly to
the backplane, reducing noise, EMI, and other harmful signaling connection
issues. The backplane is a specialized Quarch design capable of supporting up
to 12Gb SAS or 6Gb SATA HDDs or SSDs with Quarch’s clean signaling expertise.
Also available for purchase is a kit that allows the user to install two JBODs
onto a 2U storage rack.

It is targeted for SMBs looking for solutions
to upgrade their storage network’s storage capacity. It is currently available and priced at $899 for a
single unit and discounts for quantities
greater than 20 units.
