LSI Ships 12Gb SAS HBAs

LSI Corporation introduced the SAS 9300 HBA family, the first 12Gb/s solution for high-performance servers, workstations and external storage systems.

The family accelerates storage and is designed to meet the high-performance application needs for environments including transactional databases, Web 2.0, data mining, video streaming and editing.

It has four models with performance and delivers over 1 million IO/s, a 50% improvement over the previous generation. Each HBA supports 4 or 8 individual SAS ports, can provide over 6,000MB/s of throughput for streaming applications, and is optimised with the PCIe 3.0 specification.

LSI HBAs are designed to increase performance for business and mission-critical data stored on SAS HDDs, high-capacity SATA HDDs or application-accelerating SSDs. Each HBA is powered by the SAS 3008 or SAS 3004 12Gb SAS controller, includes mini-SAS HD connectors as specified by the SAS 3.0 Standard, and provides connectivity in a low-profile form factor supporting 8 lanes of PCIe 3.0.

With over 38 million SAS ICs and 6 million SAS adapters shipped, LSI SAS solutions help enable channel customers to establish a competitive footprint inside new and growing market segments.
