Active Circle Brings Out Active Media Connector
Set of web services grouped into API
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 13, 2012 at 2:41 pmActive Circle, provider of storage and archive management solutions for digital content, announced its Active Media Connector, a set of Web Services grouped into an API (Application Programming Interface).
The Media Connector enhances the ability to integrate with industry data-intensive applications.
The integration of Active Circle is providing an unlimited and secured file storage space in the form of a tiered and distributed file system to applications like media asset management systems, document management, scientific applications, medical imaging systems, satellite imagery or other applications managing large data sets.
This storage virtualization approach brings benefits to data-intensive applications: first, its data is secured and independent from the storage technology. Customers can keep the applications running even in case of storage technology change. They can scale the capacity to petabytes without disruption. In addition, the total cost for the application and its data is reduced thanks to the use of capacity disks or LTO tape libraries.
The API offers a visibility on the files regardless of their location on disk or tape, and provides simple orders to read and write the data, to monitor the transfer of large files, and to audit their level of protection. It also provides an incremental mode to allow the applications to query all changes happened since the last request. The API is based on REST technology and uses standard HTTP methods so it can be used in any development language.
"Customers are asking for more integrated workflows as they do not want to spend time and resources integrating applications themselves. Pre-integrated applications guarantee a reliable workflow and a good level of support. Our new Web Services API was designed to facilitate the integration by our VAR and OEM partners," says Fabrice de Salaberry, Active Circle CEO.
