2-Bay USB 3.0, eSATA and FW 800 RAID

Sans Digital announced its latest MobileRAID series products with USB 3.0, eSATA and FireWire 800 in a compact two-bay tower.

The MR2CT+ (silver) provides three different types of interface ports (USB 3.0, FireWire 800 & eSATA) ensuring versatile connectivity along with high data transfer speed. The MR2UT+B (black) and MR2UT+ (silver) provide USB 3.0 and eSATA interface connectivity.

Both the MR2CT+ and MR2UT+(B) come standard with built-in hardware RAID-1 (Mirroring) ensuring data safety and security along with RAID-0 (Striping) for fast data transfer speed. They are designed with various features such as the instant RAID availability that allows immediate access to the units without the need to wait for RAID initialization. A physical RAID mode configuration dial located in the rear of the unit allows quick RAID setup without the need to use a software utility. The status LEDs in the front of the unit also help to provide RAID health status, power status, and connectivity information.

The latest USB 3.0 is capable of providing 10x more bandwidth in comparison to the existing USB 2.0 interfaces. By incorporating this new technology, the latest MobileRAID two-bay models are capable of reaching performance speeds 5x faster than the previous USB 2.0 only models. For computers not equipped with USB 3.0, the units‚ are also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 allowing flexible deployment when USB 3.0 port is unavailable on the host computer.

The combination of the built-in hardware RAID engine on the MR2CT+ or MR2UT+(B) along with the high bandwidth USB 3.0 interface allows a data transfer performance of around 195 MB/s in a RAID-0 setting.

In addition to the USB 3.0 interface, the eSATA connection also provides about the same performance allowing computer that already have eSATA port to work without additional controllers. The MR2CT+ also comes with a two port FireWire 800 link, suitable for Mac workstations equipped with the FireWire connectivity.

With eSATA and USB 3.0 interfaces as well as backward compatibility with the USB 2.0 ports, the MobileRAID Plus series work with virtually any computers.
