Global Distribution EMEA Distributor of Cambridge Imaging Systems

The Global Distribution Group, a
value-added distributor of data storage within audio/video,
post-production and broadcast markets, has been appointed by Cambridge Imaging
Systems Ltd as the EMEA distributor of the new Orbital
enterprise video recording solution (EVR) and the Imagen2 digital asset
management (DAM) system.

The Orbital EVR is for broadcast newsrooms, TV production
companies, advertising agencies and for compliance recording. It captures
transport streams from DVB-S and DVB-T sources and saves them to disk in a
searchable archive, allowing users to access programmes or clips from the
stored transport streams and submit them to any number of workflows.

The system also extracts EPG and subtitle data from the broadcast stream and
uses it to create rich, searchable metadata records. Users can also add their
own metadata and categorise their stored assets. Archived content can then be
accessed via the Orbital web interface. Users can playback video and audio,
edit content, make collections and share playlists with other Orbital users.

Orbital EVR integrates with Cambridge Imaging Systems’ Imagen2
Digital Asset Management platform. Imagen2 provides a managed archive for on-air content
captured by Orbital. The Imagen Client offers basic and advanced searches of the user’s
database and provides administrative control over metadata and media. Assets can be
collected, shared, exported, annotated and sent to any number of output workflows.
