Fujitsu OEM of CommVault in EMEA

To sell Simpana to Eternus customers

Fujitsu Technology Solutions is making it easier for enterprise customers to backup, store and archive their vital business data by providing direct access to CommVault Simpana 9 software.

This new partnership announcement means that Fujitsu will become an OEM provider of Simpana software through its sales channels in EMEA, starting immediately.

Evaluated as a leader in Gartner’s latest Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Disk-based Backup/Recovery (Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Disk-Based Backup/Recovery, January 2011), Simpana software is a software to unify backup and archiving, bridging physical and emerging virtual storage worlds with a single platform.

Thanks to the new partnership, Fujitsu will extend the integration between Simpana software and Fujitsu’s backup and archiving targets, ETERNUS CS High End and ETERNUS CS800, plus Fujitsu ETERNUS DX series disk storage systems. This provides Fujitsu’s enterprise customers with an extended choice of enterprise-class backup solutions alongside Symantec NetBackup and EMC NetWorker software.

Furthermore, for Fujitsu storage customers, direct access to Simpana software means faster, straightforward storage processes, coupled with access to backed-up data in case of system interruptions. Backup procedures are easier and storage administration is more efficient. Simpana 9 provides a bridge between snapshots of ETERNUS DX systems and the ETERNUS CS backup and archiving target – enabling customers to combine short-term data protection with longer-term centralized data retention, recovery, archiving and near-line storage to tape.

Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President Datacenter Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: "Information is the lifeblood of today’s businesses, and ensuring that it is backed up and archived is central to any organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Our new partnership with CommVault provides Fujitsu customers with even a broader choice when it comes to enterprise backup and archiving, simplifying this business critical process through close integration between our ETERNUS storage hardware and the excellent Simpana data and information management platform."

Bob Hammer, President and Chief Executive Officer of CommVault says: "The benefits of improved SLAs, business continuity, lower capital and operating expenses and greater efficiency, is driving strong interest among Fujitsu customers for CommVault Simpana software on Fujitsu ETERNUS storage systems. This new partnership with Fujitsu gives customers what they want: advanced backup and archiving technologies built on single platform that together deliver strong business value."

As part of the OEM partnership, Fujitsu will create its own pre- and post-sales services capabilities for Simpana software and will collaborate with CommVault to provide maintenance services.
