The V3.4 NAS management software is embedded within the latest V3.4 NAS firmware, which enhances several aspects of the QNAP Turbo NAS units allowing owners to maximize their investments in a QNAP NAS.

The new enhancements in V3.4 include
but not limited to the availability of:

  • RAID 10 (a combination of RAID 0 and RAID 1); Remote Replication gets support for Real-Time mode between two Intel based NAS units;
  • Advanced Folder Permissions – Enables to configure access control to folders and subfolders for efficient management and better security;
  • the addition of Elephant Drive Cloud Storage – Lets users save backups in a cloud based storage in addition to their Turbo NAS for an off-site storage with continuous data protection;
  • remote access gets an upgrade as well with MyCloudNAS which is basically a free built-in DNS service provided for users to register a unique domain name for their NAS. It further reduces the hassle of complicated Internet registration and allows users to access their NAS through the Internet.

The range of QNAP products that will include the 3TB drives include but are not limited to the TS-419P+, TS-459PRO+, TS-559PRO+, TS-659PRO+, TS-859PRO+, TS-859U-RP+, and the TS_809PRO and TS-809U-RP models, all of them available. The 6 and 8-bay QNAP models are all designed and built on the Intel platform and provide support for iSCSI, and are now VMware Ready Certified.

The 6-bay TS-659PRO+ will not support up to 18TB, whilst the 8-bay can scale up to 24TB.

"QNAP has once again demonstrated its ability to ensure the investment made by its user base is further extended to truly provide value for money and thereby assuring all our customers get a rapid return on investment." said Mohamed Mawji, Director, eAegis. "The 3TB upgrade with the easy accessibility of the NAS both locally and remotely allows users the flexibility and ease of use for protecting critical data whilst keeping a keen eye on the bottom line and deliver high-end features at dramatically lower costs."

The QNAP models with 3TB drives are in stock and shipping now.

For example, the QNAP TS-459 PRO+ Turbo NAS Server 6TB 4-bay 2.5" and 3.5" Advanced SATA NAS Server with Built-in iSCSI Target Service Standard Edition costs $1,279.
