Disk Archive Corporation’s ALTO-100 offers an approach which is more affordable than Tape Archives both in capital cost and total cost of ownership. It is more secure and offers faster access to data than solutions based on tape.
ALTO-100 offers a storage capacity of about 100TB in a 5RU or 4RU rack mountable chassis, corresponding to 1 Petabyte (1,000 Terabytes) of data in a standard equipment rack and giving a storage density roughly 4 times greater than an equivalent tape library. Unlike a Tape Archive, ALTO-100 requires little maintenance and is both economical and environmentally friendly to run since disks that are not in use are switched off automatically.
At IBC 2010, Media-Alliance unveiled several new products and enhancements to its present product line. New products will include PANDORA, an integrated monitoring tool; ORIGIN which offers live, real-time and file based Quality Check and AVIO, a next-generation Ingest Server offering features for Enterprise Ingest applications.
