Toshiba StorE TV+ Multimedia HDD (£200)

Toshiba UK introduces the StorE TV+, an external hard disk drive that enables users to store and play digital content direct to a television over HDMI. The StorE TV+ is also capable of playing high definition content, features wireless connectivity and is compatible with the majority of popular image and audio codecs. With support for Full HD video and a range of photo and music formats, the StorE TV+ offers a storage and playback facility for multimedia content.

Removing the restrictions of viewing digital content on a PC or laptop, the StorE TV+ allows the whole family to enjoy digital content in the comfort of the living room, connecting to television sets via HDMI or component video. Home video, films, photographs or music can all be stored on the hard drive and accessed on demand, making it easy to find and enjoy multimedia content direct from the device – without the need for a PC. The StorE TV+ can also be used as a media hub for the home, accessing files from a range of input devices to offer immediate access to images, video and audio content.

For users wishing to transfer content wirelessly from computers or to DLNA compatible TVs, the StorE TV+ also comes with a wireless USB dongle – allowing even greater flexibility for the transfer and playback of content in the home.

Easy access to hours of content
Despite its diminutive size, the StorE TV+ offers up to two terabytes (2TB) of internal storage, providing capacity for hundreds of hours of multimedia content. Users are able to browse their content libraries using an intuitive menu system and an easy navigation remote control.

The StorE TV+ makes it easy to save and back-up high definition video files and high-resolution images. With an integrated three-in-one card reader, users have the ability to view their pictures and video on a big screen without having to save images to a computer first. Extensive audio support provides the ability to enjoy digitally stored music libraries.

StorE D10 – high speed, high capacity
In addition to the StorE TV+, Toshiba UK also announces the StorE D10 – a high speed, high capacity external hard disk drive. Offering rapid data transfer speeds for both large and small file transfers thanks to eSATA connectivity, the StorE D10 has a storage capacity of up to 2TB, providing amounts of space for backing up documents, presentations and multimedia files.

The Toshiba StorE TV+ is available from September 2010 (£199.99 inc VAT for 2TB model). The Toshiba StorE D10 is available in Q4 2010. Pricing for the StorE D10 to be confirmed.
