Tuxera Announced Fusion NFS to Accelerate Time-to-Market for Storage and Cloud Services

High-performance, software-defined NFS reduces infrastructure requirements for demanding cloud, AI, HPC, and enterprise workloads

Tuxera, a player in quality-assured data storage management and networking software, announced the upcoming launch of Tuxera Fusion NFS, a high-performance NFS server that enables storage vendors, systems integrators and cloud providers to add enterprise-grade NFS to their offerings without developing and maintaining the technology internally. This helps organisations bring new services to market faster while gaining more performance and capacity from their existing infrastructure. Fusion NFS will be available from 16 November 2026.

As AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and other data-intensive workloads place growing pressure on storage infrastructure, businesses need to support increasing demand without constantly adding hardware. Developing enterprise NFS capabilities internally can require significant time and specialist engineering resources, while proprietary storage platforms can restrict infrastructure choice and increase costs.

Fusion NFS provides a software-defined foundation that can be integrated into new or existing storage and cloud offerings. It allows vendors and operators to respond more quickly to customer requirements and focus their engineering resources on differentiating their own products and services.

In Tuxera benchmark testing, Fusion NFS achieved throughput of 22.7GB /s using a single 200 GbE network port. It delivered twice the throughput of NFS-Ganesha and outperformed Linux NFSD, enabling organisations to support more customers and demanding workloads without an equivalent increase in hardware. This increased efficiency can help reduce or delay investment in additional servers while lowering associated power, cooling, networking and management costs. It also offers an alternative to costly hardware replacement, allowing organisations to modernise file services through software and gain greater performance from infrastructure they already own.

“Fusion NFS gives storage and cloud providers a faster route to market without forcing them to compromise on performance, reliability or scalability,” said Ned Pyle, CTO, enterprise storage, Tuxera. “Instead of spending years developing and maintaining NFS capabilities internally, they can focus on differentiating their own services while making better use of existing infrastructure.”

Fusion NFS joins Fusion SMB as part of the award-winning Tuxera Fusion platform. When both protocols are used, multi-protocol locks, handles and permissions are automatically enabled, helping organisations provide consistent, secure access to the same data across NFS and SMB environments.

Fusion NFS provides the reliability and availability required for business-critical workloads. It supports NFSv4.1, RDMA, user-mode operation and scale-out HA. It can be deployed across clusters, containers, cloud infrastructure, virtual machines and single servers, giving organisations the flexibility to use their preferred hardware and architecture. Continuous availability, transparent failover and rolling upgrades help maintain access to critical data as services are scaled, maintained and updated.

Fusion NFS is commercially licensed and backed by dedicated support and regular product development from Tuxera’s engineering team, providing the accountability required for enterprise and service-provider environments. It is designed for AI, HPC, and other data-intensive applications across research, life sciences, engineering, energy, and other sectors where performance, availability, and rapid access to large datasets are business-critical.

Fusion NFS will be available from 16 November 2026, with registrations for Fusion NFS evaluations opening in early November 2026.
