ai-PULSE 2026: Scaleway Expands AI Infrastructure in Europe With New AMD Instinct GPU-Based Supercomputer in Sweden

Scaleway and AMD are bringing Europe's first commercial AMD AI supercomputer to Sweden, deploying AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs to give European companies greater choice in how they build and scale AI

On the occasion of ai-PULSE 2026, Scaleway announces the deployment of a new AI supercomputer in Sweden featuring AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs.Scaleway LogoMarking Scaleway’s first HPC deployment outside France, the new infrastructure will give start-ups, AI companies and enterprises across Europe access to AMD Instinct GPU capacity at scale.

With this deployment, Scaleway is expanding the choice of AI technologies available to European companies, bringing greater diversity to the architectures they can build on and opening new paths for innovation.

Bringing greater choice to AI infrastructure
As AI models grow in size and complexity, organizations need high-performance compute infrastructure that can support demanding training and inference workloads while providing greater flexibility and choice. AMD delivers leadership high-performance and AI computing technology across accelerators, CPUs, networking and an open software ecosystem, enabling customers to build and scale AI infrastructure for a broad range of workloads.

The system will feature AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and AMD ROCm open software, giving Scaleway customers access to high-performance AI compute and an open software ecosystem designed to support the development and deployment of AI workloads at scale. By adding AMD Instinct technology to its AI infrastructure portfolio, Scaleway is expanding the range of compute architectures available to customers and giving organizations greater choice as they develop and scale AI applications.

We are excited to deepen our work with AMD and bring the power of AMD Instinct technology to companies across Europe at this scale,” said Damien Lucas, CEO, Scaleway. “Doing it from Sweden makes this milestone particularly meaningful, as we continue to grow our presence and investment across Europe.”

“Scaleway is expanding the AI infrastructure choices available to customers across Europe with AMD Instinct GPUs and our open ROCm software ecosystem,” said Stephanie Dismore, SVP, EMEA, AMD. “Our work with Scaleway will help organizations access the high-performance compute and open software capabilities they need to develop and scale demanding AI workloads.”

Built for AI at scale
Building and operating a supercomputer of this scale requires performance and efficiency across every layer. Scaleway is working with a group of key technology partners to bring the system together:

  • AMD: providing AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and the AMD ROCm open software ecosystem for AI compute
  • Bull: integrating and deploying the cluster, from racks and cooling integration to data center installation and ongoing hardware maintenance
  • Giga Computing: providing the servers housing the compute at the heart of the system
  • HPE Networking: providing high-performance Ethernet networking to enable fast, reliable communication across the HPC
  • Vast Data: providing the high-performance data platform that keeps demanding AI compute continuously supplied with data
  • Motul: supplies an innovative liquid cooling fluid specifically engineered to meet the thermal demands of high-density AI computing infrastructure while maximizing energy efficiency

Together, these technologies are designed to deliver the performance required by demanding AI workloads while improving the efficiency of the system as a whole.

Sweden at the heart of Scaleway’s European AI expansion
The supercomputer marks Scaleway’s first deployment of this kind outside France and a new step in the company’s expansion in Sweden, a strategic market for its growth in Northern Europe. It builds on Scaleway’s partnership with Tele2 and its growing presence in the country.

With a strong AI and technology ecosystem and access to a largely low-carbon electricity mix, Sweden offers strong conditions for Scaleway’s next phase of AI expansion. The location also reflects Scaleway’s approach to sustainable scale: as AI becomes more compute-intensive, where and how that capacity is deployed matters.

The deployment will further strengthen Scaleway’s presence in Sweden, while expanding the AI capabilities available to companies across Europe.

“Scaleway’s decision to choose Sweden for its first HPC strengthens the conditions for Swedish companies and organizations to develop and scale AI domestically. We see growing demand among our customers for European cloud and AI services, and this establishment is a clear signal that Sweden is an attractive location for AI infrastructure,” said Stefan Trampus, EVP, B2B, Tele2.
