Serial Cables’ PCIe 6.0 CDFP Host Cards Reach Major Milestone: 4m Reach Over DAC Qualified

The successful validation demonstrates unprecedented signal integrity for PCIe 6.0 connectivity using passive copper solutions

Serial Cables, LLC, a player in high-performance interconnect and validation hardware, announced a significant technical milestone in the evolution of PCIe 6.0 connectivity.Serial Cables Logo`In collaboration with Broadcom, two of Serial Cables’ new PCIe 6.0 CDFP Host Card Adapters have successfully demonstrated error-free PCIe 6.0 connectivity over a 4-meter CDFP DAC. The cards’ architecture is based on Broadcom’s Atlas3 switch chip.As AI workloads and hyperscale data centers move toward PCIe 6.0, the industry faces a massive challenge: maintaining signal integrity over distance. While PCIe 6.0 offers unprecedented bandwidth, the electrical requirements are so stringent that distance is typically severely limited. Serial Cables has broken this barrier, proving that high-performance, managed PCIe environments can achieve significant reach using cost effective passive copper solutions.

Testing confirmed that the Serial Cables CDFP Host Card (PCI6-AD-x16HE-CDFP-BG6) maintains a highly competitive Bit Error Rate (BER) that far exceeds the PCIe 6.0 industry standard. While the specification requires a BER of 1e-6, Serial Cables’ testing demonstrated that even the worst-performing lanes achieved a BER of 8e-8.

“This validation is incredibly meaningful for data center architecture. By proving that we can maintain massive signal integrity margins over a 4-meter passive copper reach, we are giving engineers the freedom to design more flexible, scalable, and cost-effective GPU and accelerator enclosures. We aren’t just meeting the PCIe 6.0 standard; we are exceeding it to ensure the reliability that next-gen AI infrastructure demands,” said Paul Mutschler, CEO, Serial Cables.

By providing a stable, standards based x16 PCIe 6.0 interface with onboard management capabilities, this milestone establishes the Serial Cables PCIe 6.0 CDFP Host Card as a critical tool for hyperscalers, integrators & any team qualifying PCIe 6.0 devices.

“This 4-meter test proves that Broadcom’s Atlas3 PCIe 6.0 switch and Serial Cables’ board design can easily handle long-distance, high-bandwidth connections. Better yet, they do so with enough electrical headroom to avoid pricey active cables entirely,” said Stu Nuffer, IC validation director, data center solutions group, Broadcom.

Availability
The PCIe 6.0 CDFP HHHL Host Card (SKU: PCI6-AD-x16HE-CDFP-BG6) is expected to be available in October 2026.
